The first electrically powered digital computers were built in the 1940s. Programming languages have been around a lot longer.

Over the intervening years both hardware and software have improved. There are now hundreds of different programming languages and many different types of computers.

Computer scientists have also been hard at work in this period and as a result many software disciplines have filtered down from academia and become accepted best practices.

We almost invariable use Object Oriented programming, which has become the de facto standard for creating robust enterprise applications.
